With His Majesty King Mswati III having officially commissioned the Water Party, Bemanti, Acting Ludzidzini Indvuna Themba Ginindza has assured the nation that the group is not out to harass or intimidate anyone.

The commissioning of the Bemanti marks the beginning of one of Eswatini’s most significant cultural events, Incwala.

Ginindza emphasised that the role of the Bemanti was to uphold and serve the country’s customs and traditions, stressing that their presence across communities should not be misunderstood.

He explained that the Bemanti’s work was a symbolic and essential part of the Incwala preparations, designed to involve communities in a ceremony that carries deep national significance.

“Bemanti are not here to abuse or intimidate members of the public but are commissioned by the King to carry out this important cultural practice,” he said, responding to fears raised about their movements in various regions.

While acknowledging that misunderstandings may occur, he maintained that any negative encounters did not reflect the true purpose of the Water Party.

“They are not there to harass members of the public, and people should not see it that way,” Ginindza reiterated.

He added that the primary goal of the Bemanti was to foster community participation in a tradition that unites the nation. As they travel across all four regions, Ginindza urged emaSwati to honour the Incwala ceremony and respect the sacred duties performed by the group.

“Community support is essential in maintaining the integrity of this cultural practice. It is important that everyone embraces the traditions handed down through generations,” he said.

Ginindza also highlighted the practical relevance of the commissioning. With the Bemanti now in motion, he noted that the nation may begin ploughing, especially after the significant rainfall received in recent weeks.

He reminded the public that this period represents unity and respect, and encouraged communities to welcome the Water Party as they fulfil their responsibilities.
