Music & People Returns with a Bang in Mbabane.
Beats&Bass, the local house music movement, successfully hosted the first Music & People session of 2025 on June 7 at IFS Lounge, located at the MVA building in Mbabane. The event, which will now take place every two months, returns on August 2, at the same venue, promising an even more electrifying experience.
Originally, the June event was expected to feature South African DJs Young Molz of Sculptured Music Records and House Cat. Still, due to circumstances beyond the organisers’ control, the duo could not make it. However, Beats&Bass has confirmed their appearance at the upcoming August 2 edition.
“We sincerely apologise to all who attended and missed the headliners,” said the organisers. “We are committed to making it up to everyone with an unforgettable show in August.” Despite the absence of international acts, the event delivered an immersive night of diverse sounds. The session was a blend of underground hip-hop, chill-out, neo-soul, and bossa nova, with local spinner Sabeloog kicking things off with a mellow and mesmerising set that set the mood beautifully.
The line-up also featured a powerful performance by DJ Chantel, one of Eswatini’s finest Afrobeat selectors, who was fresh from the Bushfire stage. Her set was followed by a soulful journey brought to life by Msakrie and Mistosoul, who revived the “Late Nite Deep” vibes with rich, emotional house tunes.
The momentum continued as the iconic duo Crooks & Wicked took over with a heavy deep house set, keeping the crowd on their feet.
They were followed by Katz of Beats&Bass, who delivered another well-received deep house session as host.
As the night progressed, DJs Tibza and DJ Cup kept the tempo high with current house bangers, before Yamkela and Lord F stepped in with their signature grooves. The evening also featured a stellar underground deep house performance by Lord Boogy, who closed the night with style.
Beats&Bass confirmed that the next Music & People session is set for August 2, and promises more genre-bending performances and high-quality production.
In a move to expand their reach, the sessions were recorded and will be streamed on YouTube via Capital Groove TV from June 20, 2025.
