Marking four decades of leadership and national development, His Majesty King Mswati III has issued a historic clarion call to work tirelessly toward a future where unemployment is declared a thing of the past.

In a powerful segment of his Speech from the Throne, the king shifted focus from past achievements to a visionary 40-year roadmap centred on total youth empowerment and economic inclusion.

Reflecting on the progress made since 1986, His Majesty emphasised that the foundation laid over the last four decades must now serve as the launchpad for a job-rich economy.

The king’s vision is that the next 40 years must be defined by the elimination of the unemployment crisis currently facing the kingdom’s youngest citizens.

“As we mark 40 years of development, we must aspire to declare unemployment a thing of the past over the next 40 years,” the king declared, setting a monumental target for both government and the private sector.

Central to this mission is the Youth Enterprise Revolving Fund (YERF).

His Majesty highlighted that the Fund was specifically created to ensure that no young person in the country is left without a means of livelihood.

The king shared his personal encouragement regarding the impact of the initiative, noting that many young Emaswati had informed him directly of how the Fund has transformed their lives.

He commended the bravery of young people who have moved beyond job-seeking to job creation by establishing their own businesses.

By turning youth into active economic participants, the Fund forms a primary tool in the national strategy to boost GDP and strengthen economic resilience.

His Majesty acknowledged that youth challenges are dynamic and evolving.

To meet the goal of zero unemployment, he directed government to remain agile and proactive.

“Government will enhance, review and update our policies from time to time to ensure the country is in a position to address the challenges faced by our youth,” said His Majesty.

The message marks not only a celebration of four decades of reign, but a decisive pivot toward long-term economic transformation.
