Reading Time: 3 minutes

Last Friday I received very sad news that the bubbliest person I’ve ever met in my entire life had passed on.
It was and still is difficult to believe, but it is what it is. Upon hearing the news I decided to go to our (my and the deceased’s) favourite watering hole at the Mountain Inn and reminisced about the time I spent with him there.

Actually that is where we met over 10 years ago and we hit it off like a house on fire. I stray now as I am talking about my late buddy.
Anyway, while at the Mountain Inn I ordered a glass of wine and sat on one of the benches outside. I was three sips into my drink when a group of four gentlemen and one lady walked into the sitting area and you could tell that the gents were there for a cold one or two after a long week at work. They were your typical Mbabane gents with semi-private high school accents and they generally know about issues.

The lady on the other hand was not formally dressed, but in jeans and a nice tiny winter coat. She was very pretty and had the longest weave, great lashes and a beautiful face beat. I could not really tell who her partner was among the men not that it was any of my business. Their beers came, including a champagne bottle for the lady and the gentleman launched into a conversation. Of course the topic of the day was the on-going spat between the United States President Donald Trump and billionaire Elon Musk (arguably the richest man on earth). The two are fighting over Trumps proposed One, Big Beautiful Bill.

Of course these gentlemen who looked corporate from where I was sitting knew the ins and outs of the Bill and I myself as I pride myself in knowing real current news learned of a new thing or two about the proposed law.
It is quite difficult to write this next subject because I fancy myself as a feminist so I try and ensure that I never put women down in most instances.

However, with the lady who was sitting with these fellas one could tell that she had absolutely no idea what they were talking about.
As the gents were discussing the nitty gritties of the Bill and the public or online spat between the two buddies she would from time to time chip in “uyahlanya lo Musk” or “ngeke sive ngaye waMusk” to “kodvwa vele Trump ucabangani”.

I was a bit disturbed and before my mouth involuntarily uttered something I decided to walk in and top up drink and order pizza to while away time and perhaps by the time I walked out again the topic would have changed.
Seven minutes later I went back to the outside sitting area and God forbid the young corporates were still on the subject.
The topic had gotten deeper with them arguing about the pros and cons of the Bill.
One argued that the proposed legislation made some smart tax cuts and revenue increases and would basically make life easier for millions on taxpayers.

Again the lady said something that was totally irrelevant to the subject and I started to wonder where these men had picked up this lady from because they certainly had nothing in common, but we all know that it is quite difficult to separate men from pretty girls no matter how their general mental capacity was, but hey I am not one to judge, but I would just find it awkward to contribute to a topic I was not well versed on.

With me for example I try and shy from conversations that involve issues of the stock market because my knowledge of them is very limited. I could read up more on them, but I am not really interested. Anyway, what I like about the spat between President Trump and Musk is that it is based importantly on law. I am not sure why Musk is now not in support of the Bill when he was the one pushing it before, but I like that they were fighting over serious issues of policy or the law which will impact the lives of Americans in my opinion positively.

I’ve never been one to like Trumps arguments because he usually goes of topic and starts discussing for example how someone’s teeth look like. However, instead of fighting with his buddy this is his chance to push the Bill and inform us of its pros and perhaps the other Parliamentarians will endorse it.

The spat reminded me of the heated exchange which the Attorney General Sifiso Khumalo and Lubombo Regional Administrator Themba Msibi had last week during the Local Government Conference. These are the debates we want to hear of because they impact all Emaswati’s life. That said ladies, I would encourage you to try and keep up with trending world developments, nothing is a turn off as trying to be team relevant.
Until next week, remember to be kind and may Brian’s soul rest in eternal peace.
