THREE candidates have been shortlisted for the Eswatini Posts and Telecommunications Corporation (EPTC) managing director (MD) position, with the final appointment expected within a month.
This was confirmed yesterday by EPTC Board Chairperson Kwanele Magagula, who said the recruitment process had now reached its final stage. He explained that both the consultants and the board had completed interviews and agreed on the top three candidates.
“We are done with the process. We first shortlisted the qualifying candidates, then conducted interviews with the consultant and now we have the top three. At both consultant and board level, I must say we are done,” said Magagula.
The corporation is currently being led by Fulatsa Zwane-Sibanyoni, who has been serving as acting Managing Director since February this year.
Magagula said the recruitment process had initially faced challenges, as the first advertisement did not attract enough suitable applicants. He attributed this to the method used, which relied heavily on a QR code-based application system.
“The post was not well advertised. The application process was largely technical and relied on the use of a QR code. Most people are still accustomed to the traditional way of applying, so the response was not satisfactory,” he said.

As a result, the board decided to revise its approach by re-advertising the position using more conventional methods.
This was aimed at improving visibility and giving more qualified candidates a fair chance to apply.
“We had to extend the process and change the model so that it is more visible to candidates. We wanted more people to apply and to give everyone a fair chance,” he added.
Magagula noted that the recruitment process had been lengthy due to its detailed nature but assured that it was necessary to ensure the right candidate is selected.
The MD position is a key role within EPTC, responsible for guiding the corporation’s strategic direction and ensuring smooth operations in a fast-changing telecommunications sector.
The successful candidate is expected to have between 10 and 15 years of executive management and leadership experience.
Before Zwane-Sibanyoni’s appointment, the acting MD role was held by Chief Finance Officer Lungile Nxumalo.
