Award-winning gospel artist Thinah Zungu has re-recorded a song originally composed by renowned singer and songwriter Linda Dlamini.

The song, titled “Lona Ngumnyaka Wethu”, carries a powerful gospel message cherished by both artists.

Gospel artist Linda Dlamini.

Thinah Zungu shared his excitement about the project:

“We have collaborated on a song based on an agreement with Linda Dlamini. We love the ministry and believe in telling the gospel as we were sent by God to do so.”

He emphasised that the project was done properly and legally, with attorney Dumisani Motsamai ensuring all rights were respected.

“Linda still holds his rights to the song, and we have done everything by the book,” Zungu explained.

Dlamini revealed that Thinah reached out about a month ago, expressing how much he loved the song and how it is a favourite in his church worship.

“Thinah called me telling me how he loved the song and that it was one he normally sang at church,” Dlamini said.

He agreed to the re-recording on the condition that he receives royalties as the original composer.

“I was even advised by attorney Dumisani Motsamai, who is a mutual friend of both of us, about my rights regarding the song. We have a mutual agreement,” Dlamini added.

Dlamini expressed admiration for Thinah’s artistry and ministry:

“I feel good about the song being re-recorded, especially because it was done by an artist who is a friend and whose music I also follow. Thinah Zungu has beautiful vocal cords; I like his ministry and gift, so I am feeling good about the song.”

While acknowledging that the new version is a re-recording, Dlamini highlighted the unique qualities of each rendition:

“Even though the song is a re-recorded song, I know how I did it. You cannot compare it to the original. This is an extension of the message.”
