Soccer – Royal Leopard kept their 100 per cent record unblemished in the MTN Premier League this season with a 2-0 win over Sidwashini United yesterday at Mkhuzweni Technical Centre.
The police side dominated the game as expected with less pressure from the Sidwashini United whop hardly threatened at their goal.
Junior Magagula trademarks pass unsettled the visitors but could not find the breakthrough.
Seasoned striker Felix Badenhorst came close to break the deadlock before the interval, but Sidwashini goalkeeper Siyabonga Zwane was alert for the danger as he whipped the ball away.
The score remained goalless at break.
Edwin Matsebula charges emerged from the break with more vigour as they made more inroads towards the opposition goal.
Five minutes from the break, Felix Badenhorst rose highest to finish a good cross from Thokozani ‘Thikithi’ Dlamini.
The host continued searching for another goal with ‘Thikithi’ leading the attacking forays, however, the visitors held firm at the back. Mduduzi ‘Nyama’ Shongwe had a rare opportunity later in the match, with William Kunene weaving past the host’s defence but his final touch let him down.
At the stroke of fulltime, Wandile ‘Shaka’ Simelane sealed a victory for the log leaders, connecting a well timed pass from Junior Magagula.
Ultimately the game ended in a 2-0 in favour of the police outfit. Victory saw Ingwemabalabala moving to 45 points while Sidwashini languishes at the bottom of the log standings.
