EFA hails MTN sponsorship renewal

EFA Vice President Steve Horton thanks MTN Eswatini for renewing its decades-long sponsorship of the Premier League, as the 2025/26 season kicks off with optimism, more teams, and returning fans.

ESWATINI Football Association (EFA) vice President Steve Horton has expressed gratitude to MTN Eswatini following the renewal of its longstanding partnership with the Premier League of Eswatini (PLE)


The much awaited league will kickoff tomorrow flowing the launch.
Horton was speaking on behalf of EFA President Peter ‘Samora’ Simelane during the sponsorship renewal event at MTN Golf Club yesterday.
He said they viewed the continued investment as a fortress of a partnership that withstood the test of time, spanning over two decades.

“As a football family, we express our gratitude to MTN Eswatini for the renewed partnership and magnified investment in both the Premier League of Eswatini and football at large. EFA recognises the crucial role the top-tier domestic league plays, in nurturing talent that eventually represents the nation internationally. The national team often relies on Premier League players to form competitive national squads capable of competing on continental stages.” He also pointed out the significant impact the partnership has had on the development and refinement of local clubs that now competed in CAF interclub competitions.

While also highlighting that looking ahead to the upcoming season, there was strong sense of optimism and they celebrated the return of fans in greater numbers, noting their enthusiasm to reunite at stadiums across the country.

“The 2025/26 season promises to be long and competitive, with more teams and enhanced sponsorship bringing greater intensity to the battle for championship.
This increased competition is expected to revive social connections and stimulate economic activity around football. As we follow the on-going CAF matches, we are reminded that the resilience and competitiveness of our clubs owe much to the unwavering support of MTN Eswatini,” he said.
