Brotherly trust was broken when a brother was found to have allegedly stolen E170 000 from his sibling’s bank account.


The money was stolen over a period of three months. The victim, a 40-year-old man of Nyonyane, made the shocking discovery on March 26.

Information gathered from the police is to the effect that the suspected brother had allegedly stolen the money which he had withdrawn from ATMs at The Gables, Corner Plaza in Ezulwini, and Mbabane.

According to the police, on the day that the 40-year-old man discovered that his money had been stolen, he had gone to the bank to withdraw some cash. After completing the transaction, the man reportedly asked the bank teller who was assisting him to check the balance in his account.

It was then that he was informed that, between January and March, large sums of money had been withdrawn from his account through the various ATMs in Ezulwini and Mbabane.

Subsequently, the man reported the matter and opened a case at Lobamba Police Station. Acting Chief Police Information and Communications Officer Assistant Superintendent Nosipho Mnguni confirmed the matter and said an investigation was ongoing. At the time of compiling this report, she said no arrest had been made.
