All foreign visitors entering Taiwan are now required to complete a free online arrival form before travelling, as part of new measures aimed at improving immigration efficiency and enhancing visitor experience.

Taiwanese government has mandated that all non-resident and non-diplomatic travellers fill in the Taiwan Arrival Card (TWAC) within three days prior to arrival.

The digital card replaces the previous paper-based system and is expected to shorten immigration queues at ports of entry.

According to Taiwan’s National Immigration Agency, the online system is accessible via the official platform: https://twac.immigration.gov.tw/
Taiwan Embassy in the country has emphasised that the process is completely free of charge, warning travellers to beware of fraudulent websites charging fees as some scams have been reported asking unsuspecting visitors to pay E507.43 for the form.

The requirement applies to foreign nationals who do not hold an Alien Resident Certificate (ARC), resident visa, or diplomatic ID card, mainland Chinese visitors with multiple entry and exit permits, Hong Kong and Macau residents also holding multiple entry and exit permits and ROC (Taiwan) nationals without household registration or those without residence certificates for Taiwan.

The embassy said the digital shift was part of a broader strategy to modernise border control procedures and create a smoother arrival experience.

Travellers were advised to submit accurate information online and ensure they only used the official government website.

Failure to complete the TWAC before travelling might result in delays upon arrival.
