According to sources, the prosecutor had employed the Mozambican national identified as Antony Meluleki for close to two years at a scrapyard/garage as a mechanic and night watchman.

Premises

Meluleki was residing inside a caravan that is inside the premises of the garage so that he could keep watch of the property at night and was staying alone.

The source stated that the deceased, before his death, had complained about not being paid his salary in full for months, leading him not seeing eye-to-eye with his employer.

It is said before the incident, Meluleki with another colleague had reportedly visited one of the garages owned by the prosecutor and took metals in a bid to sell them so that they could recover their owed salaries.

“Both of them had allegedly not been paid. They work in separate garages since one is at Madonsa while the other is at Moneni,” said the source.

The source stated that as they successfully sold the metals, they reportedly went separate ways after sharing the money.

The source stated that on Saturday morning, they saw the police invading the garage that Meluleki stayed in, looking for him, only to find him under the bed inside the caravan.

“After some time, they left with his body that had an open wound on the head and some parts of the body. He had blood all over,” the source said.

Scene

During that time, the prosecutor was not at the scene, but he was the one who informed the police about the missing Meluleki.

The source further said that while the police were still at the scene, they called the prosecutor but he only arrived later on the day.

He added that some members of the community who were close to Meluleki were taken in for questioning by the crime investigation department but were later on released.

Questioning

“They took his employer for questioning the following day and he has been kept at the Mafutseni Police Station for the past three days,” he said.

Acting Chief Police Information and Communications Officer, Assistant Superintendent Nosipho Mnguni, confirmed that there was a man who was arrested in connection to the murder of his employee.

She said the suspect was expected to appear before court soon.
