SOCCER – For years, the Killarney Stadium stands have been an accident waiting to happen, with more holes than Swiss cheese in the planked seating areas.

Now, Mbabane Highlanders AM’s much-anticipated first official visit to the stadium has sparked a long-overdue revamp of the stands.

Malanti Chiefs will host the country’s most successful football club in what promises to be an epic MTN Premier League clash, if both teams’ strong starts to the season are anything to go by. The match is set for Sunday at 3pm.

MaMkhize visits Pigg’s Peak

Highlanders AM President Shauwn “MaMkhize” Mkhize visited Pigg’s Peak on Tuesday, where she met with Member of Parliament Jabulani “Buy Cash” Mabuza, Pigg’s Peak Mayor Sipho “Kwena” Shongwe, and local councillors.
The Killarney Stadium, owned and managed by the Pigg’s Peak Town Council, is receiving attention and maintenance ahead of the big game.

Social media buzz

Fans have flooded social media with excitement over the visit, using colourful phrases like:

“Hulumende uya eSpiki,” loosely translated as “Government is going to Pigg’s Peak.” “MaMkhize effect,” wrote another, while one fan added “Kota slwane,” meaning “the Black Bull is coming.” “No yinkhulu le team, bataze bavume sgebhu,” meaning “Indeed Highlanders is a big team and doubters will now agree.”

With a massive crowd expected, Pigg’s Peak Hotel has launched special accommodation packages for the Week Five MTN Premier League fixture.
The hotel announced rates of E1 430 for double occupancy (bed & breakfast) and E1 070 for single occupancy, encouraging early bookings.

Meanwhile, travelling fans are urged to journey together and “paint the stands black, white, and gold.”
