It is now confirmed — Eswatini Post and Telecommunications Corporation (EPTC) Managing Director (MD) Themba Khumalo has vacated office.
This was revealed by ICT Minister Savannah Maziya, who clarified that appointing a substantive MD lies with the newly announced Board of Directors, not the ministry.

The minister said the new board, unveiled yesterday, would deliberate on the appointment of Khumalo’s successor. Khumalo officially vacated office on August 31, marking the end of his five-year tenure without an immediate replacement named.
Minister Confirms Transition
Maziya explained that although boards generally hold the power to hire and dismiss state-owned enterprise CEOs, line ministries and Cabinet retain influence in final decisions, while the Public Enterprises Unit (PEU) under the Finance Ministry ensures governance compliance.

She urged the new board to ensure EPTC becomes self-sufficient within a year.
“We’re desperate to have an institution that is self-sufficient in a year or so because we can’t afford to live on the edge,” Maziya stressed.
She added that global challenges faced by post offices require innovation, partnerships, and infrastructure upgrades to sustain EPTC’s relevance.
New Board Announced
The eight-member board, chaired by Kwanele Quinton Magagula (K.Q. Attorneys), includes:

Kwanele Magagula – Chairperson (K.Q. Magagula Attorneys)
-
Lindiwe Dlamini – Former EPTC Corporate Affairs & Transformation Manager
-

-
Sibusiso Mndzebele – Financial Crime Control Manager, Standard Bank
-
Sipho Dlamini – Former Procurement Specialist, Eswatini Sugar Association
-
Sakhile Dlamini – Ministry of ICT representative
-
Thulisile Gamedze – Ministry of Finance representative
Maziya expressed confidence in the team’s ability to drive transformation, integrity, and infrastructural growth.
…Lindiwe Bounces Back
Notably, Lindiwe Dlamini makes a return to EPTC, this time as a board member. She previously served as Corporate Affairs and Transformation Manager and later as Director of Strategy and Economic Regulation at ESCCOM from 2016 to March 2024.
Workers Welcome Khumalo’s Exit
EPTC employees, under the Swaziland Communications Workers Union (SCWU), said they welcomed Khumalo’s departure.
Union President Maphevu Fakudze explained that while workers cannot hire or fire an MD, Khumalo’s exit aligns with their calls for change.
Over the years, workers accused him of:
-
Unfair contract terminations
-
Discrepancies in final settlement packages
-
Irregular recruitment despite a hiring freeze
They further alleged that their grievances were ignored during his leadership, even when raised before a Parliamentary Select Committee.
