His Majesty King Mswati III has told the nation’s police officers that failure had no place in their line of duty, warning that even a small margin for error would put their safety, colleagues and the public at risk.
This was during the 2025 Police Day commemoration and the passing-out parade of 192 recruits who completed their training at the Matsapha Police Academy yesterday.
The event was attended by Special Envoy Fisal Alharbi, who represented the leader of Saudi Arabia, police chiefs from the SADC region and beyond, senior government officials, politicians, parents and relatives. The King said their presence illustrated the broad support and goodwill towards the police for its central role in safeguarding national security.

The 192 recruits remained behind two years ago and had to stay at the academy as they had arrived later than those who passed out then.
Vigilance and Training
Addressing the nation during the event, the King said policing demanded unwavering vigilance, continuous learning and the ability to adapt to the nation’s evolving security challenges.
His Majesty commended the service for its visible growth and development in operational capabilities, noting that each Police Day commemoration showcased increased competence.
The King recalled visiting the academy and witnessing the recruits continuously showcasing skills that uplifted police service standards. He emphasised the importance of continuous training to ensure officers remain healthy and fit for duty.
“Do not disappoint your trainers. Take the baton and race until you pass it to future generations,” His Majesty told the officers.
Integrity and Public Trust
The King said police work was appreciated as it ensured peace in the country. He encouraged officers to take their jobs seriously, stressing that communities must always see them as people who stand for the truth.
He praised the force for avoiding negative publicity and urged them to strengthen partnerships with communities, noting that public trust is the cornerstone of effective law enforcement.
His Majesty further commended collaboration with community policing structures, calling them a vital linkage between the police and the public.
Readiness and Innovation
The King admired the precision drills, motorcycle formations, K9 demonstrations and special operation tactics displayed at the parade, saying they reflected creativity, innovation and readiness for modern security challenges.
He highlighted the importance of adapting to technological advancements, new business patterns and sophisticated criminal tactics. He urged police not to fear change, but to embrace technology as a tool to strengthen policing.
Swift Action Against Crime
The King praised the service’s determination and robustness in acting swiftly against criminal activity, saying such proactivity often prevented breaches before they escalated.
