HIS MAJESTY URGES ACTION AMID GLOBAL CRISES:
His Majesty King Mswati III has warned world leaders that ongoing global crises are threatening progress towards achieving the UN’s Agenda 2030.
Making his address during the Fourth International Conference on Financing for Development (FFD4) in Seville, Spain, His Majesty emphasised that while the situation was dire, there was still an opportunity for nations to work together and find lasting solutions.
He also highlighted Eswatini’s strides in aligning its development efforts with the UN Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).
PSUs CONSULTATIVE MEETING UNDERWAY IN SITEKI:
The Public Sector Unions (PSUs) have kicked off their consultative meeting for civil servants at the Siteki Town Council Hall.
The gathering has drawn hundreds of civil servants from the eastern Lubombo region. Top on the agenda is the long-awaited salary review, with workers voicing strong calls for fair and timely adjustments to their remuneration.
PM MEETS GREEN CLIMATE FUND DELEGATION:
Prime Minister Russell Mmiso Dlamini yesterday met with a delegation from the Green Climate Fund (GCF) African Division, currently visiting Eswatini to strengthen the country’s access to climate finance.
The discussions focused on the importance of a robust readiness programme, the need for a more ambitious and inclusive climate finance framework as well as enabling direct access to GCF resources for Eswatini.
PSUs MAINTAIN STANCE ON SALARY REVIEW REPORT:
The Public Sector Unions (PSUs) consultative meeting on the salary review exercise continued at the Swaziland National Association of Teachers (SNAT) Centre in Manzini.
The members have reaffirmed their stance and rejected the proposed four-month extension for the submission of the report by the Consultant.
CHANGE OF PLANS:
Right after attending the consultative meeting for Public Sector Unions (PSUs), workers in Siteki wasted no time and marched straight to the Eswatini Water Services Corporation local depot, where they demanded the immediate restoration of water supply.
Siteki and surrounding communities have been without water for weeks, with the corporation citing ongoing pipe maintenance as the cause.
